Shankara

There are moments when a name stops being just a sound and becomes a pulse within you. “शंकरा…” was one such pulse for me. It didn’t arrive as a composition—it emerged as surrender.

While writing this bhajan, I wasn’t trying to describe Shiva; I was trying to feel Him. In every रूप—कालभैरव, भोलेनाथ, अनंतनाथ—I sensed a paradox: the destroyer who liberates, the ascetic who embraces, the silence that echoes.

What struck me most was His simplicity. A deity who is pleased even with jal, yet holds the fury of the Ganga and the poison of the cosmos within Himself. That contrast shaped every line. Devotion here is not about grandeur—it is about connection. तुझसे जुड़ जाने से मिल जाती है मोक्ष… became less of a lyric and more of a realization.

The repetition of “शंकरा है शंकरा” is not poetic convenience—it is meditation. A chant that dissolves thought and leaves only presence.

And somewhere between the damru’s rhythm and the stillness of ash, I realized: Shiva is not just to be praised. He is to be experienced in the quiet corners where ego fades, and truth remains.

This expression of devotion took shape through many hearts and creative spirits
